We saw Dr. Warren Lo last Tuesday. It went very well and we will be going back next Monday for a neuropsychological evaluation. Dr. Lo was very helpful and took a lot of time to answer questions. I had called ahead with our concerns about attention issues, so I was very happy to see Dr. Lo come in the exam room with a neuropsychologist. We are very hopeful that this evaluation will help us find a way to make my son’s schooling less of a struggle for him.
Besides being very gentle with my son, Dr. Lo showed us the MRI and tried to help him understand what he was seeing. He paid attention for only a short while, but it was much better than in the spring when he would not have even looked at the doctor.
Dr. Lo was also very helpful in helping me to understand everything that happened last winter, (the eye rolling which was thought to be seizures, was medicated, then turned out to be tics instead). Basically Dr. Lo said it can be difficult to diagnose seizures and that the local doctors at the University really are well respected and will give us good care. So I feel I have a better understanding of the difficulties in the art of diagnosis, and I feel that I can trust the local doctors. We will see Dr. Lo once a year to consult, which also makes me feel much better about everything.
Thanks for everything. I am so glad for the Foundation's help. It makes things so much easier and less lonely than they would be otherwise.
