Fall 2009 Volunteer Spotlight

rachel_watersRachel Waters is one of those young moms who hits the ground running. From her initial phone call to us when her son Aiden was barely 3 months old, Rachel has been forward-thinking and creative in finding ways to bring SWS and the Foundation to the mind of the public, her family, her community and on the Web. She started small with wristbands and stickers, then did an interview that resulted in an article in the local newspaper for Month of Awareness.  When we began First Giving, Rachel was one of the first to post a story and appeal.  When Aiden was faced with a (successful) hemispherectomy she shared a visual diary with everyone through the magic of youtube.com. Rachel is a persistent correspondent on the Support Forum on Yahoo Groups, which means she reads other families’ postings, as well as writes in response.
