SWF Education Fourm, San Diego, CA

100 0870Although it was on a rainy Sunday, 16 people, plus 4 children, attended an SWF Education Forum at the Marriott Fairfield Inn in Old Town, San Diego on March 18.

Dr. Sheila Friedlander, dermatologist at the Rady Children’s Hospital, our newest Center of Excellence, spoke on basic medical concerns and the newest developments using rapamycin. SWF CEO Karen Ball gave an overview of the issues faced by families, and as always, experienced parents lent their knowledge and support to the newer parents.

Maddie Tiffany, sister of 9 year old Charlie, presented Karen Ball with a $400100 0873 check for money that she and her friends made by holding a bake sale.

The networking that resulted at the Education Forum is one of the more valuable aspects of the SWF’s work with families.

Kudos to newly involved professionals Juan Presciado and Andrea Aguilar from Baldwin Park Unified School District, who came to learn and carry the message back to their district.

Be on the lookout for information on the SWF Education Forum to be held in Boston later this year.
