pam and jessThis fantastic team of runners have raised over $88,000 for the SWF over the past 3 years! Jessica Melo and Pam McIntyre are two moms connected to the SWF through their sons, each affected by Sturge-Weber syndrome. Each year they do a fantastic job recruiting and motivating their runners and we are truly grateful.  We welcome back Kevin Melo, Kristi Callagahan and  Helen Collins each participating for a third year. We also welcomenew team members, Chris Marino, Kathleen Porter, Michele O'Connor, Lesley Bouvier and Tom Pereira.

More than 10,000 runners gathered in Falmouth.  Sponsored for a second year by New Balance, the race is

one of the showcase events in distance running and woven into the fabric of summer on Cape Cod, like Fourth of July

fireworks and Labor Day weekend cookouts. The little race that could belongs to Falmouth. It was first held on a Thursday

afternoon because that was founder Tommy Leonard's birthday. It is seven miles because that was the distance from the

Captain Kidd in Woods Hole to Tommy's workplace—the Brothers Four in Falmouth Heights.

To sum it up by Pam: The course is 7 miles. It is by far the most scenic road race in New England. I have run so many

road races over the years but Falmouth is far and away the most spectacular on pretty much every front. It really

is breathtaking. The crowd support the entertainment along the way and just the course itself –all around pretty amazing.

The best part is when you just about reach the top of the last hill and you can look out and see the huge American

Flag flying in the ocean breeze above the finish line….that is the best part…

We cannot say thank you enough to our team of runners.  Not only have they raised awareness about Sturge-Weber syndrome and Port Wine birthmark conditions; they have raised $35,413 this year to date for a total of over $88,000 over the past 3 years!
